Despite being a sprawling metropolitan with overcrowded subways and bustling streets, Paris is still one of the most charming cities in the whole world. The cute cafes of Latin Quarter, the time warped streets of Montmartre and the alluring banks of the Seine river only add to its beauty… but one thing which adds pure wonder to Paris is undoubtedly the Eiffel Tower and in this post I will be sharing some of my favourite and the best spots to photograph Eiffel tower.
1. Voie Georges Pompidou
My No. 1 spot for photographing the Eiffel Tower is Voie Georges Pompidou. This is an amazing spot if you are someone who likes to capture light trails with interesting architecture in the background. Well, if you have been following me on social media for a while you would know I always make it a point to search for such vantage points wherever I go. This is a busy street, with cars passing by in full speed, so please exercise caution while approaching the vantage point which is like a triangular island where you can set up your tripod and get on clicking.
2. Pont de Bir Hakeim
This is a very popular location, especially for fashion photography. A lot of movies have been shot here and honestly the bridge does give a cinematic, sometimes surreal sort of a feel to your picture. If you want to avoid crowds in your background, come here early in the morning.
I took all my pictures here during the busiest hours of the day… I found a frame I liked and then patiently waited for times when the backdrop was relatively less crowded 🙂 This actually allowed me enough time to relax and enjoy the true essence of this place!
3. Place du Trocadero
This is one the most popular places to view the Eiffel Tower! Despite being crowded you can get some really interesting perspectives from here. A lot of photographers like to come here early in the morning to avoid the crowds but I wanted to capture the true essence and decided to include all the hustle bustle in the frame.
4. Eiffel Tower Carousel
This is a vantage point where things will start to get really interesting, especially for those who love to take long exposure shots. This is one of my personal favourite spots!
5. Champ de Mars
This is a huge green space where people love to come for picnics. Even if photography is not your jam, do visit this place just to absorb the atmosphere… plus, the views are just unparalleled!
6. Arc de Triumph
Visiting Arc de Triumph and climbing all the stairs in itself is a great activity, but the views which you get from the observation deck are unmatched. (Note- you would need to buy a ticket for this)
7. Ride the M6 Metro
For a very interesting picture composition, you MUST ride the M6 metro! The views of the Eiffel Tower from the metro from Bir Hakeim to Passy station are just amazing.
8. Passerelle Debilly
Another bridge which makes for a great vantage point to get some amazing pictures of the Eiffel Tower. This one also has tons of love locks which you can use in your frame to make the shot interesting!
9. Pont Alexander III
This is undeniably one of the most ornate bridges and a very popular location for wedding photographers to take beautiful pictures of extravagantly dressed, newly married couples.
10. Tuileries Garden
Not only is Tuileries a great place to just relax and indulge in some people-watching, it also offers magnificient sunset views of the Eiffel Tower.
11. Rue de Monttessuy
There are a lot of these streets which converge right into the Eiffel Tower complex. A fun activity I totally recommend is to take a day to walk through these streets and keep looking in the Eiffel Tower’s direction… you will be amazed how it hides and then pops right back up from behind a tree or a building! 🙂 Also, this will give you some of the best spots to photograph Eiffel Tower.
12. Théâtre de la Tour Eiffel
This particular spot makes for a very unique and aesthetically pleasing frame to capture the Eiffel Tower. It is a small gated park and there is salon inside the complex. I specifically asked for permission to take pictures and they were kind enough to let me 🙂 Since this is a private property please be sensible and ask before you start taking pictures at this spot.
*Bonus
There are so many hotels which offer some really amazing vistas of the Eiffel Tower. We stayed at a cosy hotel by the name of Hotel Du Lion and were lucky to have this amazing view from our balcony. 10/10 recommend this place for a budget/affordable stay in Paris!
Well, these were just a handful of my favourite spots to photograph the Eiffel Tower and I think these are great vantage points to take pictures. If you know of some more amazing places from where you can capture stunning pictures of the Eiffel Tower then please do let me (and everyone else) know in the comments section. Hope this article will help you in planning your trip, especially those who love to capture their travels in the form of pictures.
