AMINU Marine Clay Mask Review

AMINU Marine Clay Mask | Review

When it comes to masking, I find myself reaching for clay masks more than hydrating ones. I love me a good Clay mask … especially one that doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils and yet feels like it’s pulling all the oil and dirt from my pores. ⁣Did you know that clay masks are not just for people with oily skin? In fact, it can do wonders for all skin types. I was recently sent the AMINU 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐤 that aims to 𝐫𝐞-𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 & 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥 the skin. It contains mineral rich sea water and 100% Canadian marine clay. Here’s what the brand has to say about this product:

This supernatural clay mask is a jar of a pure cosmic miracle. Contains 100% natural Canadian marine clay, produced from a meteorite that fused with earth 214 million years ago, then glaciated 5 to 8 times.
Over hundreds of thousands of years, a mixture of freshwater, saltwater, and interstitial water combined with water in the protective peatland, created a clay-rich soil full of sediments and humic acid. The peat in the area, rich in humic acids and medicinal plants, has been filtering out environmental contaminants for thousands of years, leaving a pure and genuinely unique marine mud. The humic acids stimulate blood circulation and inter-cellular exchange, making this mud one of its kind in the world. “

It is the brand’s overall belief (of combining science and nature) and ingredients that made me want to try out this clay mask. The sea mineral clay helps to detoxify and gently exfoliate the skin, while licorice, grapeseed, mulberry and uva ursi extract helps to hydrate and rebalance the skin. What I love the most about this clay mask is the natural scent of peppermint and how the mask dries down on the skin.

AMINU Marine Clay Mask | Review

I’ve used a LOT of clay masks and this is the first time I have used one with this texture and consistency… the Aminu Marine Clay Mask feels like a mousse, light and fluffy. You only need a little bit, as it spreads easily and feels very cooling on the skin. Trust me when I say this – it feels very different to a typical heavy and thick clay mask. Talking about how it dries down, it only takes about 3-5 minutes for this mask to completely dry and it does NOT dry crusty and tug on the skin like a traditional clay mask. I have been using this mask a few times a week for about 4 weeks now and I think it will work wonderfully for all skin types, including dry, acne prone and sensitive skin like mine. I let the mask dry for about 10 minutes before gently wiping it off using a microfibre face round.

Every time I wash off this mask, my skin feels softer, more plump and soothed… which is something I have never experienced with a clay mask before. Having said that, I must mention that I have noticed that I get a few break outs on the following days. Now, that’s not a ‘bad ‘reaction from the mask, it’s simply the clay unclogging my pores and bringing deep seated acne to the surface. So that’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning to buy this mask… it will bring impurities to the surface.

I also love the artsy, minimal glass jar packaging. It’s clean and so aesthetically pleasing … I have it sitting on my vanity 🙂 There’s a spatula included in the packaging, so of course a big thumbs up from me! You get 50gms of product in the jar and it’s priced at INR 1850.

I spoke to the founders of AMINU who were kind enough to tell me a little more about this product.  According to them, the marine clay they use in this mask is extracted/mined in extreme winters to avoid any contamination and the micron size of the clay is so fine that the minerals present within it are able to penetrate the skin and hydrate it, instead of drying it out. They also told me that marine clay works differently for people depending on their skin – if you have dry skin, then this mask will transfer its water and hydrate your skin. On the other hand, if you have oily skin, the clay’s ionic activity will pull the oil to the surface of the skin. I think that explains why this mask feels so good on my dry, acne prone and sensitive skin 🙂

AMINU Marine Clay Mask Review

I would give the AMINU Marine Clay Mask a 4/5

I do feel that the price point is on the higher side and not everyone would spend that much on a clay mask, but I do recommend you all to try it out. Personally, this is a definite repurchase for me 🙂
