17 Ways to Use Avène Thermal Spring Water

Why Avène Thermal Spring Water Is So Great

Face Mists are such an underrated product… however, it’s a must-have in my books and something I recommend to everyone. Why is that, you ask?! Well, read on to find out how multi purpose a facial mist can … Why Avène Thermal Spring Water Is So Great and various ways to use It 🙂

The first facial mist I ever tried was the Avène Thermal Spring Water and it was love from the get go ❤️ I have been using this facial mist for the last 7 years and as someone who has really sensitive skin, I cannot imagine my life without it, quite literally. I am sure a lot of you use the Avène Thermal Spring Water, but how many of you know the story behind this miracle product and how it was found?

Well, let me tell you a little about it – in the year 1736 a horse belonging to the Marquis of Rocozels was set loose on the slopes of the Black Mountain in the South of France because he was suffering from a very severe skin disease that was suspected would spread to the other horses at the ranch. Much later, the same horse was found near the Thermal Spring in Avène, completely healed and healthy. It turns out that the sick horse, when set loose, came to the thermal spring and after drinking from the spring, bathing and rolling in it, he healed because of the natural healing properties in the thermal spring water. His coat was shiny and his skin completely healed! It’s a TRUE STORY guys!

The Marquis of Rocozels was so amazed to see the healed horse, he studied the spring water more and in the year 1743 he built the first thermal spring facility in Avène where patients suffering from atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema and even burns came to get treatment. As the years passed, the awareness and interest around the healing properties of thermal sprig water grew more and more. In the year 1871, USA discovered the virtues of Avène Thermal Spring Water and used it to soothe burn victims of the Great Chicago Fire. It was much later, in 1975, that Pierre Fabre Laboratories acquired the Avène Hydrotherapy Center and this is where a full line of Avène skincare products were created using the Avène Thermal Spring Water as the key ingredient.

I’m sure majority of you did not know these facts about Avène, I didn’t either…even though I’ve loved this brand for years. But, now that I know, I somehow feel more connected to the brand ❤️

So the water that is in each bottle originates as pure rain water that mixes with rich minerals in the sea… this water makes a 50 year journey through Cévennes Mountains in Avène, France and gradually get infused with  silicates, trace elements and Aqua.Dolomiae, an ancient microorganism… all of which makes the Avène Spring Water suitable for the most sensitive skin.

Did You Know that there are over 150 clinical studies that have been conducted on the efficacy and healing properties of the Avène Thermal Spring Water? All of these studies show that the thermal spring water by Avène has skin calming, soothing and softening benefits.

Enough about the history of this product, now let’s jump right into the different ways you can use the Avène Thermal Spring Water ❤️

  1. As a Toner
  2.  As an Extra Boost of Hydration – Mix with serums and moisturisers to give your skin that plumpness and glow.
  3. Use with facial rollers. I absolutely LOVE using the Avène Thermal Spring Water with my Skin & Rituals Jade and Rose Quartz Rollers The  water makes the roller glide so smoothly and effortlessly over the skin. No tugging, no pulling AND that extra boost of hydration to the skin….what’s not to love?!
  4. Prep the skin for makeup to ensure makeup goes on smooth and even.
  5. During makeup – soak your beauty blender with the thermal spring water to ensure even application of your foundation. Also, make your eyeshadow pop by spraying your brush with the water… you will get so much more pigment!
  6. As a makeup setting spray. It melts makeup into the skin and gives you a flawless, glowy finish.
  7. Refresh skin throughout the day – Spray your skin with the thermal spring water to refresh your mind and body. It also helps in touching up makeup throughout the day … if your makeup is clinging to any dry patches, simply spray some Avène spring water and touch up your makeup.
  8. Calm irritated skin after removing your makeup and cleansing. Some cleansers can strip your skin of the natural oils and make your skin feel tight and itchy. A good spray of Avène thermal spring water will instantly soothe your skin.
  9. Use with masks! I personally love to use the Avène thermal spring water with clay masks. Once my mask is half way dry, I spray my face with the water and then let it dry for another 10 minutes before washing it. This ensures that the clay mask works twice as well to pull all the gunk out of my pores. Also, a nice mist of the Avène thermal spring water after removig the mask feels SO good on the skin!
  10. Refresh yourself during travelling. I love the 50ml size for travel.
  11. Calm redness due to acne.
  12. Soothe sunburns or itchy skin.
  13. Refresh skin before and after a workout.
  14. Soothe skin after shaving or waxing.
  15.  Soothes burning, red, itchy eyes. You can either spray over your eyes from a distance or soak cotton pads with the Avène spring water and place it over your eyes for instant comfort and relief.
  16. Soothe diaper rashes. Yes, this product is 100% safe to be used on infants 🙂
  17.  Tame frizzy hair

      Hi,
The expiry date will be printed on the bottle you purchase 🙂
However, considering this is just thermal spring water, I don’t think there’s any need to worry about an expiration date!
