Urban Decay NAKED 3 Palette | Review and Swatches

Morning!

Thanks for joining me today as we head to the final and last lap of the ‘NAKED’ run! Today we’ll be joined by none other than the greatest and most-coveted eyeshadow palette from the Urban Decay Naked Line…

The Naked 3 Palette

I’m not going to bore you guys today or give you a novel-like description, instead I’m gonna try keep it crisp and to-the-point. So let’s get started!

As you can see, Urban Decay has changed the packaging again for the Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette  and made it look more ‘Girly’, a little flirty….the basic tin-like case has been replaced with a GORGEOUS Rose-Gold (tin) case with a wave-like patten on it, which in my opinion has taken this palette to another level completely…making it so ‘vanity-display worthy‘!!!

The closure is the same as Naked 2 palette (hinged), plus the dual ended eyeshadow brush is also featured in this palette. You get the standard 12 shade collection in this baby and I’m glad that they’re all new shades (well-done UD!).

Coming on to the shades/colours– The Naked 3 leans more towards ‘cooler’ tones and is kind of on the ‘pinky/rose’ side of the shade spectrum.

However, I’d like to add here that this palette DOES offer you a fantastic selection of browns, taupes, soft golds and even plumps all thrown in there so you can create a HUGE array of looks with just this one palette- be that a smokey eye or a rose gold look or a daytime look or even a shimmer-heavy, sultry night out look!

Let’s take a look at the swatches.

I’ve swatched starting from the Left to the Right (and in groups of 4 shades) :

Shade 1 to 4

Shade 5 to 8

Shade 9 to 12

As you can tell by the images, the first 7 shades will work great for a brisk, cool tone look (thanks to the rose, cream, beige and plum shades), whereas the last 5 shades will work beautifully for a darker look with the chocolate, dark plummy and taupe shades.

The shade that took my breath away was ‘Blackheart’ (last shade in the palette)….a gorgeous black with the most finely milled specs of red glitter thrown in….like OMG!

Here’s a closer look at break-down of the palette:

  • Strange, Nooner and Limit are the 3 matte shades you’re getting in here…so one of those will have to be your workhorse depending on what kind of look you’re going for.
  • Limit and Nooner work well as transition shades, though I feel that the matte shades are pretty weak in pigmentation in the Naked 3 Palette (*sad face*), so you’ll find yourself going over and over to build that colour.
  • To define the crease, neither nooner nor limit work for me, so I always scrummage through my palettes to find a good crease colour. (Another downside, in case you couldn’t tell!)
  • Naked 3 by Urban Decay is not a hardcore cool-toned eyeshadow palette….look above and beyond, & you’ll see it is more of a cool to neutral leaning towards warm palette… you literally have everything here.
  • The one shade that disappointed me in the beginning and I’m sure would have disappointed you as well is ‘Dust’ as I find it was more powdery and there was too much fall-out for my liking. Fret not and hate not…just use the same technique I talked about in my last post- Dampen you brush with some Fix-plus or eyedrops before you go into the colour & you’ll see what a dream it is!

Comparison

For me, the Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette by Urban Decay undoubtedly embodies the ‘Naked’ eye aspect the most…as you can create a no-makeup makeup, natural look ever so effortlessly with it.

There’s no doubt, if you are a ‘smokey-eye’ lover  (be that a soft brown smokey eye or an all-out dark smokey eye), the original Naked and Naked 2 Palette is for you, but I feel Naked 3 is a completely different ballgame.

Then again, how can a girl have the Naked & Naked 2 only to miss out on the Naked 3…tch tch…such a shame that would be! ;P

So then…That’s all for this week gorgeous people, until we meet next…

Much love!

xoxo
