Makeup Bag Essentials – Part II

Makeup Bag Essentials – Part II

‘Amp- Up the Look’

Welcome back my Lovelies!

With the holiday season coming up there are bigger plans being made with each passing day…new parties-to-attend being added to the calendar, more fun-trips being planned with friends and that one extra cosy dinner with the entire family! There’s no question then that a woman is torn between how to switch up makeup looks to look more ravishing every time she dresses up! ;P

This post is the second part of the ‘Makeup Bag Essentials’ series where we’re going to be talking about what all you will need in your makeup bag to Amp-up your look! (Check out Part I on how to get the base right).

So let’s get on with it then!

#1

Lip and Cheek colour

The next must-have is a lip and cheek colour. Now there are different ways to go about this too. You can opt for a lipstick and a blush or instead go for a lip/cheek colour which is a 2-in-1 product.

Lipsticks are a great way to amp-up a look. If you’re a beginner & hesitant to try on bold shades, I suggest you begin with using a nude lipstick or lip stain, then go on to try a pink/peach lip gloss and finally rock a bold red or hot pink lip!

Lipsticks can also be used on the cheeks as a blush by dabbing your finger on the lipstick and then dabbing it gently on the apples of your cheeks for a subtle hint of colour. You can also achieve the same result by using a cream blush on your cheeks and then dabbing some of the product on your lips as a lipstick/lip stain using your fingers. Isn’t it wonderful how multipurpose everything in your makeup bag can be!

If you’re going for a more natural or day-time look, opt for a bronzer and use it with a light hand to give more shape and dimension to your face. There’s nothing more refreshing than a ‘no makeup makeup look!

#2

The Eyes- Mascara, Brows and Eyeshadow

You can’t ignore the eyes now, can you!? The two most important things that tie your whole makeup look together are well-defined brows and full, beautifully curled lashes.

Invest in a good mascara…something that will work best with your lashes. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, it’s true! So let’s say, if you have straight eyelashes (I do!) that don’t curl or hold a curl well, then go for a waterproof mascara as that will keep the curl for longer. On the other hand, if you have really long lashes, choose a volumising mascara to give a fuller look and if you have short eyelashes, opt for a lengthening mascara to add that bit of extra length.

Now coming on to the brows…there’s nothing that will make you look more polished and put-together than well defined eyebrows! There was a time when it was all about the foundation and people were obsessed with it, today it is BROWS…so ya brows are like the new foundation.

You can go in for any of these options to get perfect looking brows:

Brow pencil

These come in a variety of shades, so pick one that suits your hair colour the best. I find that the ones which come with a spoolie attached on one end are so handy.

Mascara

Using brow mascara or even just a clear mascara on your brow hair can make such a big difference to the face. You can also use an eyeshadow (yes an eyeshadow!) to fill in your brows and then top it up with a clear mascara to hold the hair in place for all day.

The last thing I suggest is eyeshadows and you can get the drugstore ones to begin with and then move on to the high-end brands. What I would say is, experiment with different colours and textures (powder, cream, foil, pigments) by investing in trios or palettes. Some of the ones I own are from Urban Decay, H&M, Accessorize, MUA and Makeup Revolution.

So I guess that’s all you would need in your makeup bag as essentials and as you can see, one product can act in so many ways to help you get that perfect flawless look! Hope you enjoyed reading and please leave a comment down below telling me what are your makeup bag essentials and favourite products to use!

Until next time…Lots of love! XOXO
