The Best Photography Spots in Paris

The Best Photography Spots in Paris

The internet is flooded with magical pictures of Paris and if you’re headed to this beautiful city, you must be wondering where you can take them yourself. In today’s article I will be sharing some of the best photography spots in Paris (in my opinion) with you and also try to give you the exact locations for each, so it’s easier for you to get a similar frame if you fancy 🙂 If you want to have a look at pictures from any of these locations, do check out my Instagram.

Obviously the first breathtaking picture you would want to take of Paris on your trip would be of the iconic and the world famous Eiffel Tower…well guess what, you can take more than one 🙂 and for that reason I have an entirely separate post, dedicated only to the Best Spots to Photograph Eiffel Tower, make sure to check it out. Now let us talk about some other interesting spots to get gorgeous photographs in Paris!

25 Hours Hotel – Gare du Nord Paris

25 Hours Hotel Gare du Nord Paris

The 25 hours hotel at Gare du Nord is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Paris. The quintessential Parisian balcony in most of the rooms and the wonderful view of the Sacre Coeur in the distance makes for a dreamy composition and is surely going to make your Instagram feed buzzing with likes and comments. If you would like to see some pictures and a review of this hotel, click the link below.

Sacre Coeur Garden – Square Marcel Bleustein Blanchet

Sacre Coeur Garden,Paris

Sacre coeur in itself is a gorgeous place to explore and take pictures – the Basilica is beautiful, but the area can get really crowded, so I found it very difficult to get good shots here. After a couple of hours, as we were just roaming around, we came across this public park on the back side of the basilica which was fairly empty and offered some great framing options with the basilica in the background. It’s a quiet space which isn’t crowded at all. We visited during November and the autumnal colour palette in the backdrop added a lovely charm to pictures 🙂

La Consulate

While you are still in the Montmartre area, do check out this cute cafe called La Consulate. Although, I found the food to be average, the outdoor seating is what attracted me! It truly reflects that classic Parisian Cafe vibe.

Arc de Triomphe

Taking a good picture with Arc de Triomphe in the background like this can be really tricky since you are standing right in the middle of a street with heavy traffic moving on both sides, so you need to be extremely cautious and not get carried away. I would recommend taking your own sweet time and maybe try going early in the morning so you have lesser crowds and cars.

You can also get some beautiful shots of this magnificent structure from the grounds surrounding it. We got this shot right after spending some time up on the observation deck (a place I highly recommend you check out!).

Pyramids at Louvre

The Best Photography Spots in Paris

The pyramids at the Louvre are incredibly photogenic and one of my favourite photography spots in Paris! What I love the most about them is how its modern design gives a sharp contrast to the renaissance style architecture of the surrounding museum building. This is also a wonderful spot if you’re into long-exposure photography 🙂

Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel

The Best Photography Spots in Paris

As you walk from the Louvre towards the Tuileries garden, you will find this magnificent monument. It is much smaller than the main Arc de Triomphe structure, but it has its own personality and is very photogenic.

Tuileries Garden

Apart from enjoying a walk amidst the well manicured gardens, you could actually spend a whole day here just taking photographs. With tree lined walkways, the majestic Louvre building in the background, to dreamy Parisian sunsets against the Eiffel Tower, Tuileries can very aptly be called a photographer’s playground.

Place de la Concorde

best spots to photograph Eiffel Tower

Situated right outside the Tuileries Garden, this square originally was an execution site during the French revolution. Today, however, you can not only enjoy some magnificent sunset views of the Eiffel Tower from here but also marvel at the ornate fountain and the monumental Egyptian obelisk. I would recommend staying in this area to watch the sunset 🙂

Notre Dame

It’s a shame that we were not able to see Notre Dame in its full glory. But we were lucky enough to get this interesting frame while we were taking a private tour around Paris in a 2CV retro car. Read more about our amazing, once in a lifetime experience below!

Banks of the Seine River

The Best Photography Spots in Paris

Continuing on our retro car tour – our guide took us to this beautiful spot on the banks of the seine river. Now this a spot we would have never discovered if we were exploring ourselves, hence a big thank you to 4 roues sous 1 parapluie for this tour! Luxembourg Garden

Luxembourg garden is one of those places where you could just sit back and watch the world go by. This place was another favourite of mine…it’s the perfect spot for a nice, romantic picnic or even if you want to sit with a cup of coffee and read a book by yourself.

Pantheon

With its dome shaped top and Greco – Roman columns this temple of the French Nation is a majestic site! However, its a bit tricky to frame, so take your time and be patient when taking pictures of it 🙂

Rue Crémieux

The Best Photography Spots in Paris

This is arguably the most colourful street in Paris and very famous amongst Instagrammers! If you visit this place, please do remember to be respectful of the fact that this is a residential street and people actually live in these colourful homes, so don’t be loud or invade their privacy.

So those were some of the best photography spots in Paris that I came across on my trip. If you have recommendations for other locations, please do leave them in the comments section below as I would love to explore them on my next trip to Paris!
