Today’s recipe is for all you Coffee- lovers!
Beat the heat with this delicious Coffee Granita and stay cool on those hot-hot summer days <3
Ingredients
- 4 cups of water
- 1 cup of sugar
- Two and a half cups of whole coffee beans (around 6 ounces)/ You can also do strong brewed coffee *
- One-fourth cup of coffee liqueur (Kahlúa or Tia Maria)
- Cinnamon Powder (as per taste)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Preparation
- Take a pan and pour in the water (4 cups). To this add in the sugar and bring this to a boil. Keep stirring till the sugar dissolves.
- Now put in the coffee beans and boil for another two minutes. You can add in the cinnamon powder and cover the pan; allow it to cool after removing it from the heat. Alternatively, you can use ground coffee and brew a pot of really strong coffee in the same way.
- Strain this liquid in a jar and discard the coffee beans.
- Next, add in the coffee liqueur ; you will have to stir so it can all blend nicely.
- Lastly, freeze this mixture. You can also leave this overnight if you have the time. Freezing the mixture for 5 to 6 hours will give you slushy granita!
- Before you serve, take a fork and scrape some granite from the top to loosen it a bit.
- If you want to go that extra mile, I suggest whipping up some cream (using a blender or hand mixer) and adding that on top!
